City Colleges of Chicago announces an American Job Center is now located in the WSLC

CHICAGO— The public is invited to attend Community Day at Malcolm X College’s West Side Learning Center (WSLC) from 10am to 2pm on Friday, August 2. The WSLC is located at 4624 W. Madison Street in Chicago. Partners planning to attend include the West Side Health Authority, Habilitative Systems, BUILD, West Side Task Force, Versiti Blood Center of Illinois, and Introspect Youth Services.

“There is so much to be excited about at the West Side Learning Center. From the expansion of our liberal arts courses and CTE pathways to the recent addition of an American Job Center (AJC) right on-site, the possibilities are endless. The AJC is an invaluable resource that benefits our incredible students and empowers our entire community,” said Dean Barbara Meschino, West Side Learning Center. “In addition, we are abundantly grateful for our partners with whom we collaborate closely to maximize the impact and reach of our programs. Community Day shines a light on this hub of opportunity.”

The event will be held rain or shine and is ideal for those who are exploring educational pathways and thinking about enrolling at City Colleges of Chicago (CCC). There will also be music, food, giveaways and raffle prizes, all gratis. It offers a range of employment services for adult career seekers, whether starting a career or looking for new opportunities and career providers (employers).

“We are thrilled that one of the 10 AJCs is now located in Malcolm X College’s West Side Learning Center, allowing further collaboration between City Colleges of Chicago and the regional workforce system,” said Partnership CEO George Wright. “This marks our third co-location of an AJC within a City College and we know students and faculty alike benefit from the proximity. We look forward to the public visiting the AJC during Community Day, and to meeting the needs of West Side career seekers and career providers.” For more information about the Partnership’s AJC network visit LevelUpAJC.org.
