Program Description

ConstructionWorks opens the door to impactful careers in the heavy highway and construction industries. This program builds a diverse pipeline of talent prepared to succeed as equipment operators, carpenters, electricians, and more.

Funded by the Illinois Tollway and administered by The Partnership’s network, ConstructionWorks offers training, career coaching, and direct access to employers. With 13 centers across Northern Illinois and at no cost to participants, the program helps individuals launch strong careers, support vital infrastructure, and strengthen our region

Career Seeker Success Story

Martivez P. enrolled in ConstructionWorks in July 2023 and joined Awaken Foundation’s pre-apprenticeship program, earning OSHA 10, CPR, and NCCER credentials. During training, he received gas cards for transportation support. Now employed, he is a member of LiUNA Local 32. Martivez shared that “the training was a huge help” and was thankful he discovered the program.

To better support long-term career success, the program will also provide services to help candidates overcome barriers to employment.

In addition, by hiring and retaining ConstructionWorks candidates, contractors—both prime and subcontractors are eligible to receive cash and bid credit incentives if qualifications are met.
