Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Sector Center
About the Center
The Partnership’s Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL) Sector Center promotes the workforce system’s business services by delivering recruitment and retention services. By providing a connection to trained, licensed, and certified talent across sector occupations, it presents employers with the tools to grow their businesses. The Partnership supports industry-sector knowledge and skills-based training that leads to career pathways and industry certifications needed to meet the high demand of employers in our region.
As the third largest city in the United States, Chicago is a major transportation hub for the Midwest and is home to more than 14,000 TDL firms. It is served by two major airports and is the main freight rail hub of North America. Approximately 25 percent of all freight trains and 50 percent of all intermodal trains in the U.S. pass through metropolitan Chicago, which serves as the continent’s main interchange point between western and eastern railroads. From the everyday like transporting food from a farm to a dinner table, to international travel through the region’s airport hubs, TDL helps move people, products, and things across the world. Offering competitive wages, and on-the-job training opportunities, The Partnership connects employers to the job seekers they need to help the world move its goods and services.
